Re: A question about apples (of the electronic kind)

Thanks for your replies, but the damn thing is still refusing. Will take it down to the Apple Geniuses (geniae?) next week and hopefully they can work their magic. So for now I have one of those ancient phones that can only, well, phone people

Re: What have you found lately?

I like to go to the beach with my metal-detector (yes I'm one of those strange people with the shovel and beeping pole) yet I end up collecting more bottle-caps, nails, and crisp-packets than coins! (I even dug up a kayak once!)

Using CDs in the garden - problems?

I was just viewing the '101 uses for old CDs' thread and read that you could use them in the veg garden to scare away birds. I did this last year myself however after seeing the CDs become clear after a few weeks it got me thinking - is this good for the garden or for the environment as a whole? You...

1. Loose Women (sorry ladies, but seriously...) 2. Local news (I don't care if an egg was thrown at post box) 3. Late-night crime programmes (where the egg incident is dramatically reconstructed) 4. Weather (if you want to know what the weather's doing - look out the window) 5. Jeremy-bloody-Kyle! (...

A question about apples (of the electronic kind)

Hello all, Have been having slight issues with my apples that I hope somebody can help me with: I have owned an iPhone for the last six months and a MacBook Pro for the last eight months or so and both have worked perfectly throughout, however last week within the space of a few hours both refused t...

@Moderators: double-registration

Hello, this one's for the moderators: Sorry to post this here - couldn't find a contact address. Just noticed that I have previously registered here two years ago and only made one post with the username 'Benjamin Langlois'. I don't use that account so if you could delete it that would be great. Onl...

Re: Talk about feeling like a fool!

What happens when she needs to ban herself though? :dontknow:  She will create an infinite loop causing the internet itself to implode, thus creating a technological Armageddon where mankind must survive by eating the by-then-worthless loose change from behind the sofa . . . I think we had...

Being new here I also tried the chat - I verbally apologised to Trish as I left. I'm 19. I build websites.

And good luck to you too Green Aura; I'm sure we'll both be better off for it. Just thinking this might catch on - I know I'm new here and all but how does a 'Public Pledge' thread sound?

Thanks for the welcome - you can always judge the health of message board by the response time to new users (and by how shiny the eyes are) and this one looks promising.

Re: Going car-free(ish)

@Carltonian Man: Thanks for your comment; it's reassuring to know that it is actually possible. What you mention is actually one of the reasons I am doing this - I feel with a car life becomes too rushed; I want to reconnect with the environment and notice new things. @Merry: The bus service has und...

Going car-free(ish)

I know I'm the newest member here (I'm under an hour old!) but I already have a personal announcement - starting from today I am limiting my car usage to a measly 15-20 miles per week - I'm going car-free(ish). This should be just enough for only the most important trips (emergencies, short-notice t...

Impregnate it with edible mushroom mycelium - that's if you haven't already used it (I'm very late to this thread!)

Hello from Jersey

Hello everybody, Thought I had better drop by here and say hi before I start leaping into your conversations. My name is Benjamin and I live on the small island of Jersey (a little dot in the English Channel). I have been visiting selfsufficientish for years (even before the drastic redesign of the ...
