: I guess digging out the boarded fireplaces and investing in a multi fuel boiler/cooker might be next step, with solar slabs for hot water and maybe a windpowermill? Around here a "slab" is a carton of beer! :lol: Solar hot water is good, the newer evacuated tube type seems much more eff...

Finally took the plunge and bumped off our first batch of layers, four years after they arrived. It wasn't as hard or as smelly as I had feared, and tonight we'll be eating the first batch of soup - wish me luck! hi...killed my second one saturday..minced and slow cooked tonight..not nice but ratio...
