thanks so much for posting this thread . its been a great help i am in the middle of constructing an oven not to cook with ( this is the uk after all , so lets not be too ambitious, but to put part cooked food in to finish , a bit like a slow cooker .) i am using a thick layer of polystyine as insulation and will see how it goes . if anyone else has made one and has any tips please let me know

Hi

How did you get on making your oven?

Did you have a chance to try it out in the weekend sunshine?

Does anybody know people who are successfully using solar ovens in the UK already?

I want to make a low-tech one (as Nev describes) in a couple of weeks, but would love to know of other people's experiences..

I'm down south (Cornwall) so that may be beneficial??

Do you think this kind of solar oven is better?
I think more solar heat it will supply.

i've got access to some scrapped satellite dishes and did wonder if the 'solar concentrator' idea might be quite a good one, but i wonder how practical they would be for real use
