:tongue2: after the helpful reply's on jam making the question was raised about pectin I did some checking you can make your own by boiling to a pulp sour apples such as bramleys or crab and straining through jelly bag alternatively use red currants and do the same hope this is of help

Good idea if you have plenty of apples for free - but the cost would be horrendous if you (like me) had to buy your Bramleys!

I have a muslin bag of plum stones that I keep in the freezer. I just take a handful out every time I need them and drop them into whatever I need them for (rhubarb and ginger jam last week - yum!).
