Nowhere near self-sufficient, but want to be

Post: # 85832Post PeteF »

Hi. I am new to this forum, and found it by accident when trawling for blogs. I live in East Anglia, and have a small suburban garden, in which I try to grow as much vegetables as possible. I am nowhere near self-sufficient, but this is an ideal to work towards. What I am working on is being thrifty, not only to save money, although that's an important consideration as i am on a low wage, but also as a political statement and to help the planet. I am inspired by the life and work of John Seymour, and by the ideas of Permaculture. One of the ways I want to become more self-sufficient is by taking on an allotment, which is something I am looking into at the moment. I am still a relative beginner, and my DIY skills are not up to much, so its difficult at the moment. I look forward to reading plenty of advice on this forum and the website.

I'm in East Anglia too- Huntingdon. I joined last year whilst trying to cultivate my tiny slug ridden clay garden... but am now really happy having got an allotment with lovely soil

Hopefully you are somewhere with lovely rich fenland soil :flower:
