You all seem to be such proficient chefs. Well here is a place to share some of that cooking knowledge. Or do you have a cooking problem? Ask away. Jams and chutneys go here too.

I had a surprise ... went to Father-in-laws who has been very poorly for a year due to a stroke and .... he has planted beetroot and its all up and lovely.
So I offered to help look after it ...

bless him ... he used to grow loads of stuff ... age and illness ... :(

That is so good of you Silver. I feel gardeining in any form is a wonderful therapy I know it has helped me through terrible times.
On the subject of Beetroot. I read some where that if you soak the seeds they will seperate and germinate easier as well. :flower:

I just found that out the hard way, a leak in my shed was discovered when I picked up my box of seed it was all watery at the bottom
My beetroot seeds have all germanated  about 100 of them... any ideas what to do... I have planted about half of them... I'll be living off of beetroot for the next year... mind you at least it can be pickled (yummy)

Plant them all but eat the leaves of some when they are young and leave others to mature.

The problem, I find, is not what to do with the produce once it's grown, but where to plant the seedlings that are cluttering up my windowsills and the polytunnel! I've got a tray of beetroot seedlings, and all sorts of others that I simply don't have room for... :(

I NEED A BIGGER GARDEN!
