I have just cooked them like I would spinich and added some celery ... served them with a few pine nuts and a poached free range egg for my lunch... with Elderflower cordial to drink. tasty ...
Anyone else got recipe uses for beetroot tops...

No, leave them as they are. I can't remember all the details, but there are certain seeds that actually have two halves, so you get what seems like two plants coming out of each seed - I think spinach beet is another.Annpan wrote:I got organic beetroot seeds (Allan Tichmarsh was on the packet) just from the local garden centre and they have all germanated with 2 shoots, bar one seed (out of 24)- which hasn't come up at all.
Any idea what to do with the 2 shoots? should I pinch off the smaller of the 2 or just leave them both?
It says on the packet to cook the leaves like spinach, I think it did anyway, I am sure I remembered reading something like that... hmmm
I bought the same seeds (and organic were much cheaper than normal) and planted 20 and all have popped up within a weekAnnpan wrote:I got organic beetroot seeds (Allan Tichmarsh was on the packet) just from the local garden centre and they have all germanated with 2 shoots, bar one seed (out of 24)- which hasn't come up at all.
