Chutney

Post: # 62114Post adekun »

I'm keen to make some chutney - depending on what's available at the end of the season (tomatoes, onions??).
There are plenty of recipes around the internet, but I'd like to hear from anybody here. I'm unsure if there are any vegetables to avoid?

I recently made an experimental butternut squash chutney, it was great and tasted a little like mango chutney.

I love beetroot chutney. Not got a recipe at the moment but if I find one I'll post it.

I remember my gran telling me that any veg will do as long as you like it and it isn't too high in water content.

You can get around the high water content by roasting it first!

Thanks for those tips and the recipes posted. Doesn't look like I'm going to have a glut of green tomatoes so the other ideas are welcome.

Is that good news because you have lots of red tomatoes  or bad news because the plants have got blight (or something else)? :(
