Carrots again - growing from tops
I've got a few carrots and parsnip tops in a saucer of water that are growing happily.
Any ideas what to do next?
Damn this experimental growing thing...

I don't think you will get another carrot etc. but you will get plenty of foliage and when the weather heats up you should get seeds.

I know you can eat leaves of some root vegetables and I know that some leaves, like rhubarb are poisonous.
It would be good to have a list of bits of plant you can eat other than what we usually grow it for (if you get what I mean)
For instance can we eat pea leaves?

Yep, 9Ball, Adekun mentioned it..............in Japanese soups IIRC.
No, Fee, carrots & parsnips are not dioecious, they have male and female bits on the same plant.

In the series "The allotment" there's a section with Mike Feingold explaining that all parts of the radish plant are edible including the leaves and seed pods (apparently they taste like the radish but milder). I'm going to let some go to seed this year and try that.
Courgette and marrow flowers are edible so when you are thinning don't stick them on the compost, put them on your plate.

Having said that, my father (an ex farmer and gardener of great experience) derived considerable merriment at my first efforts of planting sweet peas and expecting an edible crop.......
