What is in your favourite sandwich??

You all seem to be such proficient chefs. Well here is a place to share some of that cooking knowledge. Or do you have a cooking problem? Ask away. Jams and chutneys go here too.

Banana and branston !!! Well that's different.

I recently bought some banana chutney from one of the local producers... I can imagine that banana and branston is quite tasty actually!

I like tuna, mayo and sweetcorn... with lots of black pepper and a squeeze of lemon juice. Lots of foodmiles for the tuna though eh.

  • Thick-cut, strong cheese with home-made chutney on home-baked rye bread

Sliced fresh tomatoes (just picked is best), lots of pepper and a smidgeon of salt on home-baked wholemeal

Fresh lettuce (2 or 3 kinds), a sliced, boiled egg and pepper

Chopped boiled egg mixed with mustard, dill and softened butter, then spread on rye

Grated carrot and grated cheese with a little pepper

Chip butties (thick, home-made chips on thick slice of home-baked white bread with home-made mayo on the bottom and ketchup on the top)

Bacon butties (home-cured bacon on wholemeal with either ketchup or home-made chutney - the latter edges slightly ahead)

Potato hash special - make too much potato hash (basically coarsely chopped onions and cubed potatoes fried in pork or beef fat) for another meal; leave some leftovers for 24 hours; refry the leftovers and scramble an egg into them along with a dash of Worcester sauce. Take a bap and stick your fingers into the side to make a pocket, then squidge the scrambled potato hash into the pocket. Leave to cool, then stick in a brown paper bag and carry out to the field to do some work. Accidentally sit on the bagged bap a few times, then eat for lunch with some well-chilled cider. Slurp!

For a special treat I will have hummous and avocado. Made in pitta bread, usually.

I like chicken, bacon and avocado on granary.

Or tomato, mozzerella and pesto with a sprinkle of sunflower seeds.

Yum.

Have to be beetroot and marmite for me.
Read through the topic and was surprised no one had mentioned marmite yet, so do you love it or hate it

Either pastrami and Philadelphia (or other soft cheese) on a french stick or granary

OR

A toasted bagel BLT with mayonnaise

Also, best snack for when you're :drunken:

Cheese on toast with a blob of mayo to dunk it into

(Starting to see a pattern with mayo here....)
