Dont get too smug!!

I too could eat anything ( chocolate, cakes, biscuits - anything!) and stay the same weight (8 1/2 stone) from my twenties to mid forties

Then i stopped pushing baby buggies up our steep high street - my weight went up a little but was managable
then i hit the menopause - weight crept up a little faster
then i stopped doing the school run -- round trip of 1 1/2 miles twice a day -- weight just kept on going up n up -- and its been a struggle ever since

So your time might come yet!

In the meantime -- for those of us struggling -- dont forget that a loss of 1 lb per week might not seem much, but if kept up for a whole year its over 3 1/2 stone !!! And the slower you lose the weight, the longer it is likely to stay off!

And well done PBK !! keep up the good work

But yesterday my ultra slim, ultra critical daughter said " you look nice, youv'e lost some weight" After I'd picked myself up from the floor I went and looked in the mirror and she is right! my stomach is vanishing! Still a size 16, but everything is definitely looser. and MKG we all hate you!!! pbf.
Well done PBF! Keep going

I weighed myself again in Boots. I have been running (a bit), am reasonably active and have taken up yoga and am feeling loads better, also I look a bit firmer although not much different. I haven't eaten very differently but have cut down a tiny bit on choc + biscuits. I have lost 2 lbs (down to 10st 5) and the machine also told me I was an inch shorter and had put on 6% fat. Is that even possible to put on 6% fat in a month when you haven't put on weight generally and have been more active? I don't look any fatter (I mean I don't really look any thinner either but I do feel healthier).

Shall I stop engaging with the machine in Boots? I don't want to buy scales because I don't really ever need to weigh myself. I might just go with how I feel like pbf.

Oh Susie, Boots scales have to be wrong!! If you feel better that's great. Don't waste your money on scales, it is really easy to get obsessed with weighing yourself. Go with how you feel! pbf.

Thanks PBF! I think Boots scales and I will have to part company ;-).

Pops, that was what I thought, how could I be an inch shorter? (I'm sure I was wearing the same shoes). I am not very tall to start with so am fairly possessive of the inches I have got!

This is a long hard slog but at 15.5kg down has to be worth it!

I presented myself to the doctor this morning after an eight week break (no point going to be weighed while I still had a cast on my leg), managed to have lost a tiny bit more and even managed to be taken off TWO blood pressure tablets. Hopefully I can cut out the last one once I have the other 10.5kg off. Cheese and chocolate (my downfall) are now a distant memory - I'm not sure I even crave them anymore.

This must be the hardest I've tried to do something in a long time. I'm always inspired by everyone on here who are working away equally as hard. Well done, everyone.
Growing old is much better then the alternative!

Well done Graye! It all counts in the end so keep going :hugish:

Susie - definitely break up with the Boots scales!!! That is madness!!

Well, apparently I've lost 2lb (don't really trust my scales either!) but, after a very good day of healthy stuff, I've just had 3 homemade shortbread biscuits
Better go for a jog tonight!

3 homemade shortbreads still counts as healthy unless they were each the size of a dinner plate ;-).

Can I share a very minor success(ish). Those of you who are actually fit are going to roll your eyes  . I am doing couch to 5K and am on week three at the moment, and today managed to run for 3 minutes all together without collapsing/ feeling terrible at the end (you don't just run for 3 mins and then go home and eat a pie, you do a few more running blocks but 3 mins is the longest). I am thrilled! (I know that sounds crap. Look, I'm really unfit ;-) ).

Graye, that's brilliant about the blood pressure tablets.
