wow I wish!
kids are all into doing their exams etc for the next 2 years though.
Dont know what the OH would think. He actually likes his job in London at the mo but hates the commute via motorbike.
I suppose whoever buys it will be living in a caravan till they get a house built though and then ofcourse they've got to pay for the building work etc.

I could probably afford this in two years time!
The primary school isn't but the head is coming up for retirement soon! And the Gordon Schools in Huntly has a good reputation and the OH can confirm that as she taught there for a year and wouldn't mind going back.

It always comes down to timing, doesn't it. In our case it took five years to find this place - although I've been looking since I was about 17!

PS More hailstorms outside, plus there's a big thunderstorm moving in so I'm about to shut down everything electronic for a while.

They can always get one of Skye Home's kit homes. We seriously considered buying their Flodigarry for £35,900 and building it ourselves on a 10-acre site before we found this place. It would look right; has three bedrooms, living room, dining room and family room; and while you'd have to live in a caravan, you do have the electric, septic and water (most of the time), plus the outbuildings.

Anyway, must go as the thunder and lightning are coming up the hills behind us!

PS Skye Homes Flodigarry.

Both my birds are gone now - didn't have the time when I was working in town - but when my new one comes home in July/August I will most CERTAINLY take you up on your offer once she is fit to be flown. Despite living on the Estate I have always had problems finding somewhere safe to fly them. Cheers.
If you like, I can also ask a couple of neighbouring farmers. One has 50 acres and another more than 600. It's hard to say how they'll respond, but I know the chap with 600 acres used to let a former owner of our croft shoot on his place.

Also, let me know know what sort of ground cover you prefer to work and roughly when you'll you want it. I can leave the back of hill pretty much untouched (about 3 acres with rabbits along the sides) or cut it back now so it's longer when you're ready. I can even leave the broom, bracken, nettles and the like in places if you prefer. I let a neighbour use it for sheep but can fence off small sections as well to keep rabbit runs and bird cover.

It's no bother for us as I like to leave parts of the place pretty wild for the wildlife while staying on top of the worst weeds (like ragwort).

PS If you do crow and rook hawking as well as game birds, rabbits and pigeons, then I suspect both farmers would be more than happy for you to fly their land! I used to know someone with a pair of tiercel harrises who used them for rooking in Kent and Sussex - beautiful birds.

Wow, thats very generous! Thank you. Well lets get my bird home first then we'll get into the finer details about ground cover etc - need to suss out her temprement. She's redtail by the way but yes, harrises are gorgeous.
In the meantime if you want rabbits/pigeons got rid of - ach no, I'll talk to you at the weekend. This is going way OT
