Cristalised ginger - what to do with it

You all seem to be such proficient chefs. Well here is a place to share some of that cooking knowledge. Or do you have a cooking problem? Ask away. Jams and chutneys go here too.

Cristalised ginger - what to do with it

Post: # 154749Post Millymollymandy »

This isn't easily available in France but I found some in an Asian shop so bought some, because I know I've come across some recipes that call for it. Except now that I've got it I don't know what to do with it!!! I'm sure I saw it in some chutney recipes or maybe cheesecake? It was incredible cheap (€1.14 for 250g) which is a darn site cheaper than fresh ginger!

Eat it it's yummy and good for the digestion! I also chop some finely and put it into my fairy buns for a bit of a different flavour
Let us be lovely
And let us be kind
Let us be silly and free
It won't make us famous
It won't make us rich
But damn it how happy we'll be!

You can chop a little in any sweet recipes to give a gingery addition, or just use the syrup where the recipe asks for honey, syrup etc.

Ginger cookies, or chocolate chip replacing a little chocolate with chopped ginger, are particular favourites
