thankyou! i'm alright, just a bit down about the likely scarring. but yes, thank goodness for the boys! they were absolute stars. I feel awful now, having moaned about them... it just goes to show how much people can surprise you
Get yourself some bio-oil for when the scars start fading, I have heard it can work wonders for scars.

Take care of yourself :flower:

Bryony - make sure you get to see a good doctor about any scarring & treatment - before you panic too much, have a look at what they did in Manchester.....

Julie - is that a mole or what? I can't see very well in the little piccy. But amazing results as I can't see any scar or marks in the big piccy (apart from the drawn on ones)!

MMM - no, not a mole - we have spina bifida in our family, so Gail had her scans while pregnant & we were actually told that all was ok - got the scan pix with perfect little teeth all there... and then when she was born, she had a cleft lip, cleft gum & cleft palate... all a bit shocking in the delivery room as it wasn't expected.
She still has a couple of ops to go - one to fix the gap in her gum by her front teeth & another to cosmetically adjust her lip - the surgeon left a ball of tissue near her scar on her inner lip to give the docs something to work with when she's bigger.

At the recent parent/teacher interview the other week, the teacher told Gail that Leah was being bullied a bit at school, but that she was keeping a VERY close eye on it... Gail asked if it was to do with her 'scarring'..... the teacher asked 'what scarring?? No, it's because she's a year younger than the rest & they try to boss her around'.... Tis ok though - teacher says that Leah refuses to be bossed about & holds her own VERY well! Haha!

Edited to say: The piccy of her in the bath is one of my very favourites... but that 'washable' bath paint lied - took us weeks to get the stains off her skin!

Poor baby - I've just googled it a bit because I never knew what the cleft palate bit was. It's just so absolutely amazing the reconstructive surgery they can do these days! I can hardly see anything wrong with Leah's lip that still needs work doing, but it might just be the photo. What a brave little girl she is! :hugish:

Brave, ha!
Seriously, she is great - it just looks like she has a bit of a fat lip at the front & a wonky tooth... she takes great delight in showing new people that she has no 'hanger' in her throat as well, altho this does mean that she gets more than her fair share of colds & coughs

I must admit, if anyone is brave, it's Gail - you just wouldn't believe the comments from folks in the early months, before the op..... oh, and the visit from the Social Services just after the op because of the 'physical abuse' resulting in facial stitches....

Anyway, I didn't mean to hijack the thread - was just trying to reassure Bryony that the plastic surgeons in the north-west can be GREAT! Leah was given Bio-oil when she had her lip op at 5 months & we used it for a year to keep the wound & scar area soft... it wasn't called Bio-oil then, but that's what it was! Fantastic stuff.
