Stew apples with sugar as normal (there's no fat in sugar) and bung it in an ovenproof dish.
Meanwhile, Make about 2 cups of breadcrumbs from wholemeal brown bread. Then crush about half a cup of walnuts in a pestle and mortar (or crush them with a wooden mallet).
Mix breadcrumbs, crushed walnuts and about 2 tablespoons of sugar, and spread over stewed apple.
Bake for about 20 mins in a hot oven and serve with low fat custard (made with skimmed milk).
