Old Fashioned Lemonade
Just been given a carrier bag full of fruit, including half a dozen of the biggest lemons Ive ever seen.Thought I make some "proper lemonade" and then decided to post the recipe as its so moreish! 3 lemons,3 tablespoons sugar,2 pints water, sprig mint and lemon slices. Wipe unpeeled lemons and cut into small pieces, put into a bowl with the sugar, pour over the boiling water and leave for 15-30 minutes, tasting occasionally to check stength. Strain into jug, before serving add sprig of mint and a few lemon slices to garnish (this stage is hardly ever reached in our house!) I cheated and made double the amount by using the same leomns from the first batch and leaving them to infuse a bit longer the second time,a bit of a squeeze helped too!
Now, what did I come in here for??????

Mmmmm making my mouth water now... sounds delicious.
Reminds me of that saying "when life gives you lemons, make lemonade"

[quote="wulf"]I use a slightly different approach:
Take the zest and juice of a lemon and blend with ice cubes, a bit of water and sugar to taste
That's great on a hot summer's day, probably because of all the ice. It also has the advantage of being quicker (no waiting for the water to cool)
Ill have to try that too, although they do say patience is a virtue!

[quote="shiney"]I lurrrrve real lemonade. It's so delicious.
I have tried making it just with oranges but it's a bit dull, if you know what I mean. A mixture of orange and lemon might do the trick as shirlz mentioned. Im going to have a go at the mix,the lemonade lasted just about until the end of dinner, the kids loved it!

Yep, we use the citric acid.
And yes the orange just isn't as nice, but I don't know why, the process is the same so it should be OK
