We have pink fir apples and Jersey royals and blight is slowly appearing. I didn't bank up the pots this year so quite a few are appearing at the surface, and with rain due from Mon all in all it's time to lift them. DH can do it when he's back...

Tomatoes okay so far thank goodness but very slow to form, only now getting small green toms.

Well last year our first earlies were fine especially as they were lifted before the worst month for blight July, mind you I had chosen a blight resistant variety on purpose, really can't remember the name though! The main crop nor the tomatoes were quite as lucky. This year I am not bothering with potatoes or tomatoes on the allotment at all. I am however growing tomatoes in pots and have no sign of blight (fingers crossed).

There seems to be less trouble with blight on the allotments this year I am sure to the lower amount of rainfall. I might risk it again next year. Dunno, still tempted to leave it another year and let the ground recover a bit more.

YES!!!!!!!!!! Just discovered it on the Pink Fir Apples grown in a big sack. But they'd flowered a while ago, so I thought the crop would be OK. I planted five (that's 5) potatoes on a layer of compost in the bottom, and chased the plants up to the top of the bag with more compost, and they still topped the 3-foot high bag with another three feet of growth. Superbly healthy till the blight struck. But it'll be OK, thought I. So I chopped down the tops and burned them, then I emptied out the bag.

I got five (that's 5 again). Not five kilos or five pounds - it's five potatoes, and all of them smaller than the ones I planted.

I think something is wrong with that equation.

That happened to me last year MKG, planted 9 potatoes, harvested 9 potatoes. No disease just no potatoes either.

This year most of mine are looking full and lush and no sign of blight - though we are high up so I believe there is little risk lets hope I get more than the 50 potatoes I planted. (Maris Piper and Desiree)

Sorry to hear, fingers crossed ok here at the moment, waiting for it any day.

Just eating last of second earlies, main crop has died back but still in the ground.
Tomatoes are still all green so really hope it hold off a bit longer.

No signs of blight here in birmingham as yet, i'm keeping my fingers crossed. We planted two varieties this year (rather late, admittedly), the first being arran pilot (which have now been eaten), and the second is pink fir apple (a blight magnet i know), they are growing profusely and flowering now. No signs of blight. How much longer do i have to wait for the spuds ?

Tomatoes are all fine so far though no ripening fruit yet.

Unfortunately, we now have blight in our little spot of Birmingham. The tomatoes seem pretty badly effected. For some reason, the spuds (Pink Fir Apples) seem OK --- so far. It was the same story last year. So, so disheartening, the tomatoes were starting to look really good.
