do you have blight yet?

Post: # 116137Post red »

we do - on the spuds. just the first signs, so cut all the tops off. spuds are a good size, just have to hope they stay good.

no signs at all.so far we've had an excellent crop, all from last years shop-bought spuds, chitting in the compost (about March time). We had to buy shop-bought last year, as our seed pots all got blight. So, to summarise: last year we spent a small fortune on seed spuds & got bugger-all in return, this year we spent bugger-all & are enjoying an excellent harvest. Go figure.
it's either one or the other, or neither of the two.

No blight here and the spuds all finished growing weeks ago, though half of them are still in the ground.

yeh much better than last year.. at least it came later.. and the harvest is there. Fairly sure we will keep it, dug one sickly looking plant and got a trug full of unblighted spuds off just the one.

B*gger.

Yes, there are patches on quite a few, but not all of them and some of them are quite small, and they're brown rather than black. I've pulled off the worst of the leaves, dug up all the remaining first earlies, earthed up the others to protect the tubers and prayed for a hot, dry spell. Is there anything else I can realistically do? Also, how ruthless can I be pulling off leaves? I don't want to try and save the plants by taking off all the leaves and then inadvertently killing them that way...

I have blight on my tomatoes - even the greenhouse ones. They were all fine until a couple of days ago. :( They were a bit droopy at first and I thought it was just the hot temperatures we've been having here.

I've picked off all the black and yellowing leaves and sprayed with bordeaux mixture. Luckily, most of my toms are cherry varieties so the fruit are quite well formed.

It has even affected my Fantasio plants which were recommended to me as blight resistant.

Not a happy bunny. Still - at least it is raining at the moment and we need it!

if it is blight.. then opinions on what to do next vary. if you are willing to use bordeaux mix that halts the blight -but I am not willing to use it myself. what we are doing is - have cut all the halms off, and are lifting the spuds, which are a good size but not had time to toughen up for storage. we are washing inspecting and storing them.. whether it works.. did last year.. but we have lots more spuds this year...

Oh bugger, blight in Brittany! Oh well the enormous potato harvest is all in storage now but my cherry toms are just going through the beginnings of ripening.
