Re: Being eaten alive.

Hi, sounds horrible! Someone told me once that vitamin B12( i think?) will help repel bitng monsters, so eat plenty of marmite! And i think that bites round you ankles and feet indicate fleas for sure, so it depend where on your legs they are. I reckon that if the previous occupants had pets, any fl...

Re: split peaches

and worse ... the peaches are totally tasteless! they were ok last year.. ??? Not a subject i know very much about, but i know that tomatoes can be tasteless unless they get fed as well as watered (one old neighbour told me that a kind of sheep's jobbies tea is best!!!), and i wondered if the princ...

Re: Thelephora, Sparassis or other?

I'm leaning towards Thelephora Palamata Hi! According to the Collins Gem book :study: (Again!), thelephora palmata should smell of onion! Guess whatever it was its in the bin by now, but it might help for next time! Funny looking thing, Could it have been Hen-of-the-woods maybe? HTH Kate

Re: We will try to ID your mushrooms here

Hiya, after a quick look in the Collins Gem guide, :study:, I think it could be Peziza Cerea? Apparently its preferred habitat is damp mortar and soil and its common in cellars.

Re: mushroom id?

Hi, its helpful if you include a bit more detail about where you found them. Habitat is a really important factor in mushroom identification. But judging from the photos i would say: Saffron Milk Cap? No, they are quite spotty. I think it looks like a russula of some kind. Do the gills crumble? Cep?...

Re: soup recipes

Hi! I think the best way to preserve soups and stuff is most definitely by freezing. Sorry, but i think if you want to make this idea work well- you're going to need a freezer. Tried freegle for one? I suppose (as an experiment) you could always try drying your greens etc and then making up a sealed...

Re: Scotland (we're going on holiday!)

Top tip? I'm certain you will be a good enough driver to know this one anyway, but; If you are driving at "sightseeing" pace then please please please allow overtaking! You will be astonished at the number of caravans and campervans you will see tootling about the highlands at 35/40mph apparently ob...

Re: Wild Camp Fury

Did anyone else ever watch a TV prog called My Big Fat Diet Show? They went to see how Pringles were made. It was really interesting- i haven't touched them since! They aren't food at all! Just five or six powders and extracts mixed together in the correct proportions to make a compoun...

Re: BBC: The Wonder of Weeds

I watched this too, and i thought it was just a one off. I was a bit disappointed by it. It was quite badly edited, so we just kept hearing the same points over and over! The introduction was repeated verbatim within the first five minutes! It seems a shame because it could have been a really intere...

Re: mushroom hunting

As you are talking mushrooms, I'm heading to Devon in 2 weeks and was going to buy a book on British mushrooms. Can anybody recommend one? Also one on foraging? Maybe 1 book has it all or should I buy separate books that are more in depth? I found a Collins Book of British Mushrooms that looked pre...
