these are definitely not saffron milk caps.

(the milk has to be saffron-orange coloured).

dunno what they might be otherwise? maybe a false chanterelle.

these were quite common in france. great to eat when fresh - as others have said.

but with a new mushroom you should always have just a little bit at first in case they dont agree with you. (i eat shaggy parasol mushrooms - no problems - but they make a friend of mine quite ill).

there is a type of blackcurrant that looks very like a gooseberry (or is it the other way around?)

it is called a 'worcesterberry'

and i think that that is what you have here

they are for jam making apparently
