In 1963, I found a shilling in Charing Cross Road.

That was nice ...

Yea and you did't hand it in, cos I went 6 times to the local police station.

The Good:

Having enough equity to be know we'll be mortgage-free in Ireland

The Bad:

Having to get this place finished to capitalise on it & thus missing out on a year's growing (apart from a few pots)

The Ugly:

The litter that blows into our garden daily from MuckD's :angryfire: (but we'll leave that to the next occupants, too)

The good: not having to be cool anymore. Hooray! (although the jury's out on whether I was ever cool to start with... :? )

The bad: one glass of wine and I'm dancing on the table, two glasses of wine and I'm dancing on the table swinging my knickers round my head (metaphorically), three glasses of wine and I'm fast asleep and the hangover will last for a fortnight. I used to be able to drink all night, then get up in the morning, put a bit of mascara on and have a strong coffee and be as good as new. What happened?

The ugly: I just don't look in the mirror with my glasses on, so, since I can only see about six inches in front of my face before it all goes blurry, everything looks fine

The Good:

Letting everybody assume I'm wise, when really I'm stuck in a time wharp around my heyday in the 80's.

The full head of grey hair that I acquired in my 20's now looks like it should be there - and still complete!

Being able to start a sentence with 'When I was a lad .....'

The Bad:

Likewise, that single stray hair on my forehead and the brushes of hair in my ears and nose.

The old hips aint what they used to be.

Wondering how to go about arranging an eco-funeral.

The Ugly:

Well no changes there then!
Eagles may soar, but weasels don't get sucked into jet engines.

The good - car insurance. I was recently having a conversation with a 19 yr old in our office who drives a BMW. It went something like this:

19YO "my car insurance costs me nearly 150 quid"
Me "Bldy Hll, who do you insure with, mine costs me over 180 and I've only got a tatty old Renault"
19YO "Wow, that's like nearly two grand a year" (well he is only 19)
Me "Er, no I was talking about per year"
19YO "Er, I was talking per month"

Bless him.

Well that's really funny. We used to live in flat in Charing Cross Road. My dad often used to tell the story of how he saw someone in 1963 drop a shilling outside his front door. He was about to pick it up and hand it back when another guy shot across the road, grabbed the coin and ran off in the opposite direction. My dad made a comment to a passing women about it and they got talking. Four years later, they were married and I was born

(Well the bit about living on Charing Cross Road is true).
