I last bought 'women's' magazines when I was a teenager, to try to find something interesting to read. I couldn't find anything interesting in any of them, and haven't bought any since. I haven't bought a 'news' paper for several years because I know people who have been the subject of some of the lies published in them, and I just don't believe anything that's written in them now. They don't exist to tell us what is happening in the world, they exist to make a profit and to sell more papers than their competitors. I banned news programmes from the TV when my children were young because I didn't want them subjected to the acts of violence, etc., that are both talked about and shown repeatedly (giving the impression it's happening all the time), and I firmly believe that 'news' should not be broadcast until after the watershed. I stopped reading the news on Sky interactive about 3 years ago. I don't listen to the radio much, but when the news comes on, I just stop listening. I have to admit that since I rid my life of news programmes (and soap operas), I have been much, much happier and I feel like I have a far better grip on reality.
