The Bloody Media

Post: # 129725Post sleepyowl »

I am going on one huge long rant here because I feel like I need to in lew of recent events. The Jonathan Ross/Russell Brand got blown out proportion by the press & villified them to such an extent that from something that could have been dealt with swiftly without much fuss is now getting politicians involved, every Muslim seems to be a terrorist, every black person is a gun toting gangster, every Pagan is an evil nutcase, every Marilyn Manson fan is a murderer, any male who works with children is a paedophile, that every kid in a hooded sweatshirt is a deliquent, that the Polish are invading along with every other counrty, anybody who is actively looking for work hasn't got a job because they are a lazy dosser, any Z list celebrity who has a haircut is big news.

Here is the point I'm trying to make how many of you have actually met a millitant Muslim who is going to blow you up? I have not met one, in fact I'm actually finding hard to find a Muslim who I have yet to dislike.

How many gun toting black people have you met? Ok I have had one threaten to knife me if I didn't give him all my money, who actually ran of when I ran at him (I have no idea why I did it as he could have had a knife, but in the way he acted I very much doubt it & I had no way defending myself), I have met more black people than you shake forest at let alone a stick.

I had been actively looking for a job for 5 months & been unsuccessful having only 5 interviews from applying well over 400 hundred jobs I was suited for which is good going for the lack of jobs that are available and the fact was gaining my horticulture qualifications at the time which took 2 full days out the equation

Yesterday I saw a group kids wearing hoodies help an old woman get her shopping into her trolley quickly so she could catch the bus which ran 1 per hour & a friend of mine had a group of chavvy looking kids sharing cookies with her and seeing as though she is a semi butch looking bisexual.

Ok I have met a couple of nutty Pagans but I have also met a fair few nutty Christians too, most of my friends are Marilyn Manson fans & none of them have commited murder. Most councils are screaming out for male staff now to work in schools & child services as none of them want to apply for the jobs now as they would be branded a paedo just for looking at a child in a classroom full of other children. As many Polish people are now leaving the country as arriving. And can anyone honestly say they give 2 hoots about Kerry Katona & who the Hell is Mischa Barton?

You've been reading the Daily Mail/Express/Telelgraph and watching too much ITV!

I agree with you totally (apart from the Marilyn Manson fans - just joking).

I've said it in several places but I'm really pissed off with overpaid, bone idle journalists who create news from their computer desk instead of going out and finding some real news. Of course the gossip hungry people who buy all these hideous magazines create the illusion that we're all desperate to know what colour knickers someone I've never heard of wore to some event I don't care about.

A friend of mine insisted she bought these things for the TV pages, even those her nose was firmly pressed to the gossip pages. The best of it was she had little more idea of who all these people were than I had!

P.S. Vent away!!

I must admit I have a much more balanced view of the world since I stopped reading the Daily Mail!

Don't know about Marilyn Manson but I've met a far few Muslims I didn't like (and who didn't like me either). On the other hand this was in connection with my job at the time and I met an even bigger selection of other people who fell into the same category. What I mean is that they are not all perfect but then who is? I am sure they were perfectly decent people in their everyday dealings with life. Actually a smile and a "thank you" can still generally take you a long way in this life. These were not thick underfoot in that particular job but at least I don't think anyone every thought I had been vindictive towards them or biased against them for whatever reason.

As for Jonathan Ross and Russell Brand, I have heard of the former and don't find him particularly funny but had never heard of Russell Brand and found him singularly unwholesome when I saw some TV clips. Who on earth is he and what has he done to warrant being paid such a huge sum? I don't find this sort of "humour" even vaguely funny but then we can't all be the same I suppose. On the other hand there seem to be a lot of people who found the pair of them offensive so kicking them out seems fair enough to me.
Growing old is much better then the alternative!

The Daily Mail talks through it's :bootyshake: - it is on a par with the current Republican party in the USA.

It uses scaremongering and gossip in place of any real policy.

And, just as with the Republican party, too many people - through fear or ignorance - believe every word it says.

The only thing it is any good for is to wipe your :bootyshake: or wrap up fish and chips. (But make sure you do these two things in the correct order....).

Hate to break it to you, but you just described both parties in the US.

Isn't it strange that the whole Georgina Baillie/Andrew Sachs/Russel Brand/Johnathon Ross incident had been blown out of all proportion - especially when she has such a nice PR agent as Max Clifford. It's not like Mr Clifford is known for cashing in on anything like this in the past or if he has ever manipulated the media in any way, shape of form!
Andrew Sachs isn't pressing charges, he hasn't made a formal complaint and he even agreed for the comments to be broadcast (although he did ask for it to be toned down a little). If you listen to the clip http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=5sLRLhwnuGo you'll hear it really isn't any worse than you might hear in a pub, it's just two blokes messing around.

As for the whole Muslim debate a recent paper by Tehseen Noorani and Nasar Meer compares Anti-Islamic feelings in this country to that of Anti-Semetic feelings in Germany in the 1930's - that to me is far more shocking than any tomfoolery by a couple of comedians known for their edgy humor. And why isn't that reported, well perhaps it would be if Mr Noorani and Meer had Max Clifford behind them!

Dare I admit I'd never heard of either of them - and still don't really know who they are, and don't care either?!

If Max Clifford is so good at P.R., how come every one thinks that he is such a t**t? Just a thought.
it's either one or the other, or neither of the two.

Dave, I think that you have made the point quite nicely when you pointed out that it was no worse than two blokes in the pub messing about. However it was not in the pub and it is now on youtube, so when your child starts to use the F word and talking like two blokes in the pub, how do you explain?.
I can't do great things, so I do little things with love.
