The sad thing is that drivers can and do frequently kill motor cyclists and pedal cyclists and the first thing they utter is ... I didn't see him ... Well open your bloody eyes and look you moron.

I was a cycle terrorist in my youth but even I gave up due to bad drivers and a bit of ill health etc but as an advanced driver I feel that all drivers should have to pass their normal test then an advanced test - either IAM or Rospa within 12 months and then be retested every three years after that.

If you fail the re test you can have 3 months to re sit the test and pass or you lose your licence for 3 months. What with ANPR camera's all over the place this would be easy to police.

Hell - older drivers really have no need to drive with the free bus pass nowadays unless they live in the back of beyond. There should be regular tests - family member was retired by the family onto a bus pass because even he knew he was getting dangerous after his wife had a stroke as there was no other driver to cover for him.

Get better soon and start a campaign for the better testing of older drivers.
