I was having a bad day, but then...

Post: # 112613Post Jobi1canobi »

So, I'm walking from the office back to the multi-storey car park with a heavy laptop case (containing said laptop) swung over my shoulder, two books under my arm, my purse in hand, preparing for the inevitable, along with the relevant car park ticket and my house/car keys.

First off, I turn my ankle on some uneven pavement - walk another couple of steps and turn the same ankle again - resulting in a HUGE spillage of me, bag, books, purse and keys all over the pavement and a couple of expletives to boot.

Manage to pick myself up along with my things - spend a couple of minutes putting all artefacts in relevant storage places so that I don't chuck them all over the place again before I arrive at the car - then carry on with a slightly hurty ankle and dimples where I'd landed on my hands.

When I got to the car I realised (after a moments panic) that I had lost my house/car keys. Had to limp back to the location of 'the fall' (only to turn my ankle for a 3rd time in the same blessed spot) to find my keys had gone. I spent another 30 seconds (seemed like ages) having a mild confused hot sweat until I heard 'Excuse me, have you lost some keys' being bellowed across the street from an office entrance.

Thankfully, some wonderfully considerate person had picked them up, handed them in at the office as it was the nearest place, to be followed by another equally wonderful person who had the forethought to let me know where my keys were when she saw me looking for something. I would never have thought to go there and ask if anyone had handed them in - preferring instead to believe that, in this day and age, someone would have just run off with them.

Anyway, the point is, there are still some fantastically nice people out there. I have no idea who they were but wanted to say a public thank you for preventing what could have been, at least, incredibly inconvenient for me.

I was thinking about what I could do to pay it forward. I tend to do the usual spontaneous things like treating people like I want to be treated but does anyone have any suggestions on how I can proactively pay it forward? :thumbleft:

Cheers,

Wonderful story, you should sue the council for your injury...

I lost all my keys last christmas, didn't notice until I had arrived on my holiday in foreign parts... It was a nightmare.

Got back, was walking along and a neighbour called me had I lost some keys, - yes I obvioulsy said.

Turned out I had left them sticking out of my front door, a senile elderly relative of the neighbour arrived at my front door purely by accident, let herself in with my keys until she realised 'she definately was not in Kansas anymore' if you knew my appartment you'd be suprised she did not die of shock!!

You are right there are some wonderful people about, they do help make up for some of the fkn ashles, we need more!! :dave:

Let us be lovely
And let us be kind
Let us be silly and free
It won't make us famous
It won't make us rich
But damn it how happy we'll be!
