Re: Bring back the.....

I agree with the Kit Kat thing and the pub thing. I also preffered the old crisp packets with a little window and proper flavours like plain or salt/vinegar instead of all the vile artificial ones you get now - they even smell horrible! I'd also bring back proper 3pm Saturday kick-offs for the footb...

Lost my voice - again

I work in a school so there tends to be quite a lot of germs about. I normally get one or two nasty colds during the school year but this term I've caught everything going - I am at home today, full of cold with a fever and head ache and aching arms and legs. The worst thing is that every time I've ...

Re: How "green"is your xmas tree?

I live up the road from a Christmas tree farm and going to choose the tree is one of the most exciting things about xmas for me. Now we have garden we are planning to plant it outside after xmas. I have a really random collection of decorations - I always look for one on holiday so they are from all...

Re: TV licencing bloke calls...

That sounds like a money-making scheme to me! How is that different from a family having TVs in different rooms? When we moved into our house there was an aerial in every single room except the bathroom - it made me wonder if the previous inhabitants every spoke to one another!

Re: Buy cheap buy twice

Le Creuset stuff - brilliant! One of my favourite kitchen items, their heatproof mats are also really good. Braun stick blender is the other kitchen item I use most days - it's done 6 years service so far and it still as good as new. I bought some expensive smart black trousers from French Connectio...

Re: TV licencing bloke calls...

I always thought their special vans could detect if you had a telly without the man having to go inside the house - am I just very gullable? What I don't get is why in shared accomodation e.g. a house converted into flats or student accommodation, everyone needs their own liscence? Presumably they s...

hmmph!

This week, I have eaten a lot of cake and chocolate and biscuits mainly because it's bo flippin cold. This morning I got up and looked the the mirror and thought I'd put on a bit of weight and decided to eat a bit more sensibly for a couple of weeks before xmas. Imagine my horror then to hear on the...

Re: 10 things I've done that you probably haven't

1. Had a conversation with a friend about how much we both fancied a premiership footballer only to leave the room and find him standing by the door - he heard every word! 2. drunkenly snogged my ex-boss (luckily at my leaving do) 3. Watched the northern lights outside a Sami tent in Norway 4. colla...

Re: 27 days till im 30!

My husband is a "leapling" so he is in fact, 7 and a half. When he is 40 we will celebrate his 10th birthday and he's looking forward to being 18 again when he's 72!! Have a lovely birthday - age is nothing but a number and it's lovely to hear someone who sounds happy with their lot, so ma...

Re: Little things that really annoy you!

[quote="123sologne"]Most of the above and: Charity companies dropping plastic bags in our letter box every 2 weeks to get our old clothe. I live less than 5 minutes walk from a charity shop, so I don't need them and I want to choose my own charity anyway! And most of their bags probably en...

Re: Little things that really annoy you!

Ooh! Where do I start?? I've felt like Victor Meldrew all day, time to get it off my chest... 1. People who don't indicate on roundabouts - seems to be a growing problem round here 2. Toilet cubicles that are really small and have doors that open inwards so you have to stand practically in the toile...

Re: In what ways aren't you green?

We ALWAYS have a take away on Friday night as a bit of a weekend treat/lazy/tired thing! However, the plastic containers they deliver it in are quite good quality and the perfect size for freezing portions of other meals in so they do get reused. I reckon that makes it better!

Re: Ish 'doing' gifts to loved ones

Last xmas I made the OH a little book of vouchers with promises e.g. cup of tea in bed, bake him a cake of his choice, make his favourite meal, that sort of thing. One that went down particularly well was "complete control of the remote control for one whole evening"!! We hardly ever buy e...

Re: TV reconstructions

Our boiler packed up at the weekend and it made me really appreciate central heating and hot water! When I was a kid we had sort-of central heating. A tiny vent in each room used to blow out hot air but it wasn't very efficient. I can remember getting in from school and putting my feet on the grill ...

Re: sunday (day of rest ?)

Goodness you lot are all productive! I went out to get a birthday present for my mum and found myself some lovely furry warm slippers while I was at the shops. The OH is delighted that I went to bed last night with warm feet instead of putting them on his legs to warm them up! Spent the rest of the ...
