Hi from Sheffield

Post: # 105140Post lateaprildawn »

Hi all, I'm just another person deeply warped by watching the good life as a 6 year old

Seriously though, I was brought up in a fairly self sufficientish home. Mum made the jams and hedge wines, dad did the vegetable plot and went shooting and fishing .

I have had allotments, kept chickens and meat rabbits for many years. I like to fish, and go scavenging for wild foods (( It was such a shame to see fruit rotting on wayside trees and have to tell my neighbour what rhubarb was !!)) .

I have had to downsize from this a little but I am up to the challenge of getting maximum produce from my smallish inner city garden. I am upping the ante this year and I am planning to grow, bottle, dry and store as much veg & fruit as possible.

I am only planting heirloom varieties as I plan be able to harvest and save my seed for next year as well.

So only a small target this year then (grin)

I hope I will be able to usefully contribute to the forum as well as picking your brains

Best wishes,
April

The late dappled prawn

Post: # 105207Post lateaprildawn »

I can see your confusion mkg.

The late dappled prawns can only be fished for along some short stretches of the river Don by the light of a full moon. They cower in the shade of the few derelict warehouses that are left. Their beautiful oil slick camouflage becoming a liability as the river gets cleaner and cleaner.

Soon to be the late, late dappled prawn i believe.
