Hi

We love hearing from you, so here is your chance. Introduce yourself and tell us what makes you selfsufficient 'ish'. Go on don't be shy, we welcome one and all. You can also tell us how you heard about us if you like.

Hi

Post: # 99610Post buddstud »

Hi all BuddStud here,we have just joined your forum and I am sure we will become a pain in the preverbial to you in the future with our questions. Our names are Colin and Jayne, and we currently live in a large bungalow in Norfolk(it's for sale, anyone interested).Earlier this year we bought an old farmhouse in central France and will be moving there permanantly as soon as we have sold. we will have very little money to live on in France, hence the need to become as self sufficent as possible. We will need to grow most of our own food, eat our own chickens,etc.etc.....and this from a guy that has never killed anything before. But this is not a dream IT WILL HAPPEN.oh! just for the record we used to show exhibition rabbits hence the name BuddStud, unfortunatly it's nothing to do with my prowess .
Thanks for all your future help...........Colin and Jayne

Hello Colin & Jayne!

I understand bredding rabbits for the table is popular in france, too. With your experience with breeding rabbits would this be too like eating a pet?

hi

We also bred exhibition chickens so if Colin can bring himself to eat chicken I will try with rabbit. They will also be a different breed as my bunnies were Netherland Dwarfs weighing in at 2lb,(not even enough for a sandwich) and I will get New Zealand white rabbits in France. The same goes for the chickens Colin had bantams for show but we will have biger ones for eggs and meat. We will be starting off with new stock that are not our freinds so we can stay detached emotionally............fingers crossed.
