Tomato Hundreds & Thousands

Post: # 95704Post Andy Hamilton »

OK, so technically this post should be the fruit section.

Tomato Hundreds & Thousands - I have just ordered some, has anyone had any experience with this variety? Apparently we will get 2000 cherry tomatoes from each plant and I have ordered 6 plants.

So that's 6 times 2000 = 12.000.

Now why are they called hundreds and thousands? Do some of them have hundreds, and others thousands? In that case my calculation is out... :?

And no, I've never even heard of them!

We grew Sweet 100 and Sweet 1000 tomatoes, (two separate varieties there) it sounds like you may have a X-breed of the two.
Sweet Onehundred were brill, SweetOnethou were less prolific and a little more acid, but slightly larger.
Ide be interested to see how your's do and also where you got them from

All you can get in France in the way of cherry toms are Sweet F100 and the skins are always hard. I hate the things.

I think the ones that Andy is on about are really tiny cherry toms so you get many more per plant than a regular cherry tom. I think they are the bush variety too.

Sounds wonderful though we have not tried it. You might compare it to one of the good flavoured grape tomatoes for taste and yield purposes if you can get some of those plants or seeds as well.
