Strange Jelly like stuff on my patch

Post: # 91023Post Mydreamlife »

We have a raised bed in our front garden that we grow essential kitchen veg in. Yesterday we noticed some strange clear jelly stuff. It was scattered randomly over half of the patch in pieces up to about 1 inch square. Does anyone have any ideas what it could be. We have had various items stolen/vandelised and am (Possibly neurotically) worried someone has sabotaged our veg. It has since rained so couldn't collect any for testing!!! Please help

I seem to remember reading somewhere about a fungus which is very jelly-like. If I can remember where I saw it, it might be of use to you ...

Yes, fungus was my first reaction, too - but I don't know any more, either.

was it jelly beads? They're either slug or snail eggs.

What did the jelly look like?

They were irregular shapes and sizes. A bit like someone had smashed up a jelly around my broadbeans!!!

I have looked at the other post and the link to the fungi pictures, however they were nothing like it!!!

It was completely clear and had angulated sides. Also it disapeared when it rained it all completely disapeared.

Do you think it could be something that someone nasty has put there? Really worried that it could be effecting my vegies! Is there a soil test or something I could do/have done?

Angular sides does sound artificial, but I shouldn't worry overmuch. Who is going to be odd enough to attempt sabotage my making a vegicide jelly?

You would be suprised round here!!!

We had 3 pumpkins stollen, a plastic garden waste box, and a car window smashed in 2 months. Also the local yobs seem to think our large raised bed is a perfect ash tray! :sad1:

We are not alone, the locals have had much worse.

I just wonder if someone has tiped some horrid chemical stuff over it for a laugh...

I sound like a nutter!!!!!!
Better go now OH is about to dis own me!
