belated hello!

Post: # 77191Post florence »

Just realised that I didn't say Hi to you all in this forum when I joined all those months back. Having enjoyed dipping into the livestock forum from time to time have finally got around to posting myself.

A little about me - I am a busy SAHM to two boys, currently 2 and a half and 10 months old. We live in rural suffolk with a sufficient, although not huge, amount of land. We have a couple of young bantam light sussexes which free range around the garden mostly (kept locked up in the ark at the moment with the latest Bird Flu crisis just up the road...). We love our garden and when time/energy allows we grow our own veg. We also pickle the walnuts from our gorgeous old tree and have been known to bottle our gooseberries and turn the elderflowers into cordial. Not really self-sufficient, but certainly in love with the land!

I love this site and am sure will find it becomes a real friend as our boys get older and I get more time to do more outdoor growing & nurturing!

Helen

Hello and Welcome from Canada.

We have 1 acre, a large garden, 10 Rhode Island Red Hens and 7 Silver Duckwing Bantams.

Also a small horse, a donkey and 2 cats.

We freeze most of our produce at the moment and are looking ahead to doing canning, dehydrating and wine-making.

 Lois

Hi Florence
It's nice to hear about other people. I have about 1/4 acre in not-very-rural Swindon. I have 5 ex-battery girls and 2 cats and grow, not very successfully, fruit and some veg.

Welcome to the site and don't forget to add your birthday to the birthday list on the Ish local.

Cheers
Zoe

Hi Helen

I love Suffolk and one day see myself in a lovely little cottage with a huge garden there. I am in North Essex now, and gradually creeping my way over the border.

Welcome to SS.

Jane

Hiya Helen, welcome to the Ishers! Yes, a walnut tree would do me nicely, too... Although I don't think a lot would find their way into a pickling jar - I prefer them eaten as they are, or in cakes!

I've got walnuts! Still at the saddo stage of counting them - almost 1,500 this year. Last year was about 500 which was enough!!!
