101 Uses For is popular and let's hope it stays that way. Our second book is presently called 101 tips for self sufficiency; we will certainly dip into this section for ideas. So post away and let's try and get at least one thread up to 101.

1. Eat them raw
2. Eat them cooked

3. Feed them to Santa's reindeer
4. Carrot and coriander soup
5. Coleslaw
6. Carrot cake
7. Feed them to the chickens
8. Feed them to a horse
9. Mash them with potatoes (and freeze)
10. Compost them
11. Stuff them up your enemy's exhaust pipe
12. Dry them?
13. Mix with oranges to make carrot marmalade
14. Carrot bread
15. Use them to make a dye?
16. Carrot soap? If it colours the skin then you have a fake tan.
17. Cut them into Christmassy shapes and use them to stamp out your wrapping paper
18. Mr Carrot Head?

24. Keep them for later. They store well. 4 kg isn't a lot - I usually have that much in the house after I've been shopping.

I made some carrot soap! but it separated, so i've got to make a new lot...

these are not keeping well at all - i think they're market stall seconds.

Grate them, stick them in the freezer in small bags or pots so you have just the right amount to use for whatever you want to use them for.

We put grated carrot in bolognese sauce.

Find an Indian cookery book :mrgreen: or easier still, Google!

I made it once donkey's years ago and it was quite nice, but my attempts at Barfi, which is my favourite, were very disappointing.

The one thing I really, REALLY, miss about West London is going to Southall (an Indian area) to buy Indian sweets. :cry: :cry: :cry:
