Loft Dilema

Post: # 74931Post juperwort »

not sure if this goes here...so...

Loft above our bedroom in Edwardian house. Has std insulation, upto beam level, where you walk. I would like some more, but would also like to use loft for storage. Would boarding out some of the loft have the same or similar effect as more insulation ? What isnt boarded would have more depth, leaving edges for ventilation of course....

Thanks

Boarding will have some insulating value but have a look at some of the foil sheeting available to put under the boards to boost it even more. If you are only flooring part of the loft make sure that you top up the rest of the area and make sure that the joint between the two is also properly insulated and you don't end up with a gap.
