Gidday

Just wondering seein as you haven't been there very long, what you think about a reasonable norwester?

Purhaps you didn't get it like further sount. Those Aussie hardwood power poles aint made like they used to be cos they were snapping off like match sticks in Central Otago.

well, I didn't think it worst than any other winds we have had so far, well that was till I saw the branches that had been brought down, just glad I wasn't under them at the time as they came from fairly high up. At least they are big enough to warrent sawing up for next years firewood.

We seem to be fairly sheltered here by the peninsula, the old microclimate kicks in yet again.

If you have that good a shelter and really are 5degrees above Christchurch you should be able to get in and plant whatever you want now.

Lucky bugger.

I here you have a few less stones now.

Well the shelter belt is 50 year old pines so pretty tall, I have sown a lot in trays so far, but only potatoes, yams and jerusalem artichokes out in the garden.
Yup a few less stones, but there is still more where that lot came from

just been outside again, it wasn't just branches that cam down, but a whole tree as well, it was already dead, so no loss, but quite a big one. Fortunately we had arranged for a few dead ones to be felled today anyway, so the guy has a bit more work to do.
