Smoking ban is causing climate change.......

Post: # 66878Post Martin »

....news has reached me that there is a rush of pub owners buying "patio heaters" in large numbers, to cater for their smoking customers, who must now do so outside! :?

The logical conclusion of this development is to ban patio heaters now!

No, it would be better to ban patios. There's no need for them in the UK anyway...

Gidday

No the best thing to ban is sinthetic fibre clothes so everyone has to use woolies then less oil will be needed to make those plastic garments.

Noooooooo!!!

encourage people to put their coat on.

Encourage smoking pubs, rather than all non-smoking, have some non smoking and some smoking.

I don't like patio heaters, but i also like smoking...

I cant understand why there arent smoking rooms in pubs ... I have never smoked and think the habit stupid ... but if folks want to smoke thats up to them ... they should be able to do it in an enclosed room with a tiny hatch that can be open and closed for the bar staffs protection so the smokers can get their drinks ....
Then I wouldn`t have to keep pulling small children away from careless smokers in the streets or seeing all teh crap outside buildings there is enough litter as it is.

I must admit that since the ban last year it's been a nightmare walking down a street with pubs etc because you ahve to walk through all the cigarette smoke but it's so much nicer inside the pubs... what about chimeneas? and burn the dry waste from the pub too napkins etc?

Ita a bit of a nightmare being a smoker too - now we're stuffed into small gardens/areas. I always try to be a reposnsible smoker - i carry arouns a stubbie bag - its like a little pouch with heat resistant lining that you can put your butts in, and them empty into a bin when you find one.

I'm also aware of how tall small shildren are too.

I just hate the fact that it is perfectly acceptable to get drunk, throw up and hurl abuse at people, but not acceptable to enjoy a quiet social cigarette.

errr.. those things are not acceptable either....

stubby bag is a good idea. i really hate people dropping cigarette butts on the floor. filters are another thing that just dont go away. - well its estimated 12 - 15 years to degrade.. given that they are plastic.

hereis an article by marine conservation society on cigarette litter on the beaches. really hate finding them on the beach.. in my garden :? and particularly hate people chucking them from car window...

also if peole had a bag rather than chuck them, prolly be less accidental fires too...

No, what i meant is that there are no massive media campaigns against it, drinkers are not made to feel dirt, or like social outcasts.

I love my stubby bag! I also hate thrwing butts on the floor, and especially out of car windows!!

spotted on a local garage forecourt this afternoon - Calor are now selling
"patio gas" especially for the damned things! (major rebranding!) :?
Apropos ciggy butts, I really can't see there's that much of a problem with a hand rolled fag end - it's just paper and baccy, both of which are eminently bio-degradeable, it's those blessed tips! :cooldude:
One of my pet theories is that filter tips are actually more dangerous.........they are made from cellulose, which contain lots of tiny particles which you draw in with the smoke - I know at least one respected alternative practitioner who is quite adamant that they're positively harmful
(and a pain to get rid of!)
