I'm doing a forest schools course at the mo, and the woodcraft folk movement sits nicely alongside the ethos but unfortunately it is a voluntary thing, whereas I would need hard cash! Maybe if we swell everything, live in a campervan on my mum's drive and dh makes headteacher I would extend my gracious services...

I was a Wayfarer Elfin and Pioneer, then school homework got in way (plus none of school friends went there, or guides...) during secondary school.
My son now is a woodchip. We don't have many attending - 8 last meeting. The older group have more - they've been at various events - including the protest at the nuclear submarine place (forgotten name) with a couple of them being "arrested".

oh well, hope we either move or they get some more before soph gets bigger.

My son is now an Elfin. Shame we don't have more in the group. Last meeting, we had a brother & sister who live opposite the place we meet (and their elder sister is a DF..), 2 sisters - one might be pioneer age. Then there is my son. That makes 5. Sometimes, we have another family there - 2 girls and a boy but only one is an Elfin and the other two are Woodchips (under 6). Thats us, 8 children if all come.

When I was an Elfin/Pioneer, think we had 15+ in the group.

Its kinda hard to plan for things. Games - the gamebook tends to have more games for 10+ children. We generally end up doing crafts.

My brother used to go to woodcraft folk (i was a girl guide!) and he loved it - he's now 32! I didn't realise there were still groups running!
hopefully there will be one near here for when Jamie is old enough!!

A recent-ish thing is the woodchips for the under 6s. Our group is elfin/woodchip (a number of the woodchips have elfin siblings). There may be a woodchip group in your area.
