Hi from Liverpool, UK

Post: # 51465Post thefriarandme »

First time newbie, so be gentle with me, introducing myself and saying hello.

I must declare that I have absolutely no previous experience at all with regard to the matters covered here in selfsufficientish.com. I was searching for wine recipes, and clues for novices, on the net and stumbled across this place. I was so taken with the issues covered and the values proffered that I just had to join.

As you can see I live in the city of Liverpool, in the UK. I have a back garden that has to accommodate my grandchildren and sunbathing daughters, but I would like to do a little more with it if I could.

As I have got older, I have become more aware of our need to save our beautiful planet and I am recovering from a long bout of illness. I thought I would deal with both issues and use tips and ideas from here as both action and therapy. I'm skint, as I'm on incapacity benefit, find it difficult to move easily and I am as thick as two short planks [recycled, of course] but I am willing. Hi to you all.

Hi thefriar&me, How is Liverpool doing in the football? Welcome to the forum. Have you any hard digging to do to get your wee plot up to scratch? How many sons-in-law have you? I'm getting on a bit myself but I enjoy really good health. It helps to keep active. Good on ya mate.

Hi and welcome
All you need to do is get the kids involved. Give them each a bit of garden and sit back with a glass of wine (purely medicinal of course).

How pleasant it was to see so many posts. A really nice welcome indeed.

ohareward, Liverpool are not doing as well as we should be, but we seem to be going in the right direction and we have recently knocked Barcelona out in the European Cup.

I have been having a right old mooch around the site and I am eager to get started. I keep saying to my wife ... "Have you seen this? Look at that! Gardening with rubbish ... look! A recipe for Scrumpy Cider!!!!!" :O) Her reply ... "Steady Farmer Giles, you haven't got your wellies on yet!" :O)

Once again, thank you for the welcome. I look forward to getting involved.

PS, does the Scrumpy recipe need sugar? :O)

me too. I get itchy fingers sometimes browsing around this site. Unfortunately at the moment I should be packing and changing nappies... boring. I am moving next week though, and just can't wait to get stuck in to the garden (and the kitchen)

That recipe does not need sugar as there are some natural sugars in the apples. Add some if you want a slightly stronger brew.

Welcome to the forum mate, I have visited Liverpool once and really should go back at some point. I found it a really friendly place.
