Woodland Courses

Post: # 50704Post Chambo »

Just came across these courses near where I live so they might be of interest to someone, both look like they should 'pay back' quickly in terms of what you could do with the experience

Details:
The Greenwood Worker’s Experience: Pole-lathe and Shave Horse Construction

Make the classic Greenwood Crafts tools, the pole-lathe and the shave horse, to take home. We will show you all the skills you need to learn this fascinating craft. The pole-lathe was invented 4000 years ago, and can turn wood powered just by a spring pole and your foot, whilst its companion, the shave horse, is a sit-on tool which enables you to have both hands free to safely use a draw knife and spoke shave. The course will also give you an insight into the many tools and techniques of the greenwood trade: side axe work, draw knife technique, use of froe and cleaving brake, drilling with brace and bit, turnery on pole-lathe, use of plane and spoke shave.
