I reckon they were at the Big Green Gathering! - they were the lot sitting around outside the Men's dome, in rather "affectedly masculine" poses - usually with a large hat to top off the "butch" look

Had a quick scan round the forum - crikey! it frightened me to death!
The fact that some of it made Stoney laugh was some comfort - unless it was a hollow laugh of course

I keep well away from most people like that. One used to own our croft and when it when up in flames, the fire brigade had to carry metal ammunition boxes full of ammunition and black powder out of the guy's arsenal. He used to sneak around the neighbours' fields in camouflage gear and a yowie suit (military sniper clobber).

And did you see the stuff about avian flu? I thought some poultry keepers' reactions were a bit hysterical (although with some justification) but some of the posters on there make everyone else seem calm and logical.

Then there were the ones debating which NBC (nuclear, biological, chemical) suit was best and how to fit respirators to their kids. And whether to tell their kids about their secret cache in case the kids raid it for chocolate or tell their mates so that when the "fall" comes, everyone will turn up on their doorstep looking for supplies.

So, not a hollow laugh. More a nervous one!

Now, where's my bugout bag for when they come visiting...

I actually know someone who has a cache, personal respirators (that they update as the children grow for a proper fit), weapons storage (the older child is an excellent shot I'm told), the whole shebang.

One time someone showed her an advert for ga masks, laughing, and that was when I found out about it. I would never have known otherwise.

These folk always remind me of that bloke on Tremors who stays in a bunker with his wife.

Mind you - they will be the ones laughing one day ... maybe ...

my problem with survivalists is the same that I have with religious loonies! - the conversation usually goes something like "so if I want to go to heaven for all eternity, I have to join your church? - fine, so that means I get to spend all eternity with you lot?.............thankyou but no, I prefer the fires of hell!
