The Lovely Bones

Post: # 35590Post Mancblue »

Not sure why I’m really posting this, but I just thought maybe others have the same experience. The Lovely Bones is a book by Alice Sebold, it was a book bought for my OH which I happened to pick up. Now I'll be honest, I'm not much of a reader and I've probably read more since joining this site than have for a while (what with the varied content, well done BTW).

My point! , usually when I read I listen to music and to say my music taste is eclectic would be an understatement, but when ever I hear a certain song it brings back a passage of a book I once read. Like for instance if I hear Tears Don't Lie by Mark Oh! (I know what you thinking, who???) It reminds me of The Howling, or if I hear Forever Young by ATB that reminds me of Alien versus Predator (a non official book), but back to my point. At the moment when ever I hear Goodbye my lover by James Blunt it reminds of a very sad part The Lovely Bones and the strange thing is I read the book again because of this, which is a first for me and could hardly put it down the second time either, I think it's because it hits a nerve now that I have children of my own, although this is a very sad and depressing book, if you ever get to read it don't turn down the opportunity.

Anyway I'm off too have a good cry now (I hate that bloody James Blunt and his song)

I read it. I was vaguely shocked by it, like you, because I have children. I would like to think that any murdered children out there would be able to revenge

I read it on holiday last year - hardly holiday reading and it cast a bit of a shadow over the week. Very moving. Although I liked the idea of heaven being individually designed for whatever makes each person happy.

I;'ve read it. I loved every moment of it. There were sad bits, but there were some bits i found hilarously funny too. I thought it was excellently written.
