A long time ago i took up the habit of drinking pine needle tea. Well that is i tried it once or twice then forgot about it. I had allways heard that it was full of vitamins but at the time i was eating fast food and to me it was just a strange tasting green drink. Then one day out in the woods on a long hike the day after a hard night i was sick you know not feeling that good upset tummy headache and working on no food deep in the national forest. i thought about pine needle tea. the weakness from lack of food drove me to try it. I have also at bark at other times. so i stop and start a small fire with my bow drill and fill my Carl dyers moccasin's with leafs my feet were freezing. and pull my cup out and shove it to the top with pine needles i pack them in. once at i have my tea i let it cool and drink then the strangest thing happend i instantly felt better not better i felt perfect i felt so go that i put a bunch on pine needles and headed home. that night i could not sleep i was so full of energy that the tea gave me that i could catch up on things but i wanted to play with the tea so i dug out a old 3 gallon cast iron pot. and started to make tea
well about a year later i have my widerness energy tea down to a art. How i make my tea i poor about 2 gallons of water then i toss in a bunch of pine needles cover the water on top good and well then i toss in about 5 sassafras roots and a good bit of honey and then i top it off with bee pollen. on very low heat for hours and hours i let it simmer. once ready i can just tell by the color i dig a hole and fill with grass and burry it to cool it over night. in the woods the first night you make 1 - 2 gallons of it. if you find some other food you can powder it and put it in there that way you don't have to cook it only takes me a few Min's to make/gatter all the food i need for days. i will live off this for a week or more i never feel hungry i never feel bad each day on it i feel better and better this was i can go anywhere i want and not have to worry about food.
