daffodils

Post: # 33953Post nem »

weve decided to give Lottie a break for the winter and i was thinking of filling her with daffodil bulbs but my gf is worried that they'll poison the ground because...i read that daffs are poisonous not only to animals and humans but also to other flowers. (i read that if you put them in a vase with other cut flowers the other flowers die faster than usual)

come spring ill be going with courgettes, beans, peppers, sunflowers, spring onion, radish and spinach. can those things all tolerate soil that daffs have lived in? if not daffs then what else would be cheap, cheerful and worth growing for the sake of cheerful homegrown gifts if nothing else?

herbs are pretty cheap if you grow them from seed. Even if you don't get a small plant and stick it in. You could put the daffs all around the edge of your allotment and on the edges of your paths would look pretty nice I think.,
