cow horn baskets

Post: # 1666Post leedarkwood »

I used to make small baskets (got too bored to make big ones) using grasses and a section of cow horn. You shoved grass into the larger end of the horn, and as it passed out of the smaller end it compressed into a kind of grass rope, and you sewed it into a coil and then a basket using raffia. Looked very weird doing it! It was fun because you could just sit in a field and make it there and then.
