posting in a bad mood and regretting posting

Post: # 33495Post Andy Hamilton »

Do you ever post when feeling a bit down or in a really steaming mood, or perhaps just in a silly mood? Are there any threads out there that come back and haunt you that you really wish you did not post?

For me it has to be posting when drunk, I have done a few times and the beauty of being admin means I can just delete it as I please. It is a luxury and one I wish I had on other forums sometimes.

I'm always in a silly mood, so if I waited to "settle down" then I'd have not said anything for the past 40 years...

A number of times I've written a post... then read it through and deleted it... drunk, bad mood, or otherwise... sometimes it's just hard to get what I want to say OUT without upsetting someone.

I will have to send you an akubra Shirlz. You can whack it on when you feel hesitant and your whole world suddenly seems easy going

Until the OH decides your hat is too easygoing and relaxed...

And moves you up-market...

Both Akubras - the first lasted more than a decade and was just getting comfortable when the OH decided it was mingin'. The second, a Territorian, is as good at keeping the snow and rain off as it is the sun.

Only problem is, the new hat is still a bit stiff after nearly a year so I won't be able to relax again until it reaches the same state as the first one...

i regret some posts ive made....normally i remember posting them....and cringe silently to myself hoping nobodys noticed

or when im in the pub and drunk and say something crazy.....most sane people have the magic alcohol eraser that makes them forget everything...not me....i spend the next day remembering every fine detail whilst saying yuck or uuuurgh to myself

I regularily post while drunk at a couple of forums I mod (when forums reach the stage where everyones a mate then it seems rude not to check in when you get back from the pub) and the worst thing about it is that people claim they can't tell the difference except my typing gets marginally worse.

Occasionally we'll run conferences (our excuse to get drunk together) and live blog or even webcast from the bar. That is both sadly geeky and very frightening when you see the results in the cold light of day.

It might be a good Selfsufficientish.tv show though - 'Dave and Andy come home drunk and teach us how to make a polytunnel' sounds like an interesting and potentially useful programme.

Your missus has a point, Stoney. The "after" photo is definitely an improvement on the "before"

1st shot = Sean Hughes
2nd shot - Nic Cage

Derive from that what you will!

(funniest thing I've seen all damn day... :-))

Hee hee, dunno who Sean Hughes is but your face is as droopy as the hat! Got me giggling out loud!

Mind you, there is a bit of an air of Nicholas Cage about the 2nd photo.

I think I've successfully proved two points...

1. There are posts that you make when in a silly mood that come back to haunt you.

2. As Boots says, whack on an Akubra when you feel hesitant and your whole world suddenly seems easy going. Not only that, but everyone else does too!

PS The OH fell about laughing when I tried to claim a resemblance to Nicholas Cage, then said it must have been a Sean Hughes lookalike doing a Nic Cage impersonation. Thanks all!
