vegetable spagetti or spagetti squash

Post: # 30403Post red »

Harvested and ate our first vegetable spagetti tonight - was yum! mind you it went form garden to pot back to garden to be eaten, so was definitely fresh

I had trouble finding the seeds this year and eventually found them called 'squash' with spagetti variety written very small - and they have improved the type :( I founds ome of last year's seeds which of course i had looked after properly (not. just thrown in a box) and luckily they germinated. really hope new version is not ruining something that worked. why do they have to mess with things that work...

i'd like to grow it, but i've had no courgettes yet this year, or squashes, so i'm not too sure i'm 'squash' fingered...

really? squashes and the squash family are what I am best at - apart from maybe tomatoes. I think squash family veg tolerate my attitude - ie alot of enthusiasm at the seed planting/ nurturing stage, a bit of interest at the planting out stage and a general air of neglect after that, other than harvesting! maybe of course the soil is right for them here and not for you? this year we have courgettes (i have 4 plants therfore about 3.5 plants more than we need!) veg spagetti, and pumpkin.

The pumpkin are on the site of a the old compost heap and they are thriving! two HUGE pumpkins coming.

Don't give up on squash, its worth it if it gets going!

I've planted courgette, butternut squash and marrow. I've had some flowers on one of them (not sure whether it was the courgette or the marrow) but there doesn't appear to be any veg growing!!

The butternuts unfortunately suffered froma lack of water a month or so ago,so i'm trying to perk them up at the moment!
