As an aside to this, am just thinking of the number of times I have been on holiday abroad: once De Haans (Belgium), Majorca, the old Yugoslavia, Kenya, Woodcraft folk camping in France, school trips to France (x2) & Germany (x2), plus a trip to Germany with an environmental youth group, interrailing with my mother. 4 return flights. Travelled one return Belfast to Manchester. One return and one single Belfast to Heathrow.
My son will be starting school full time in September, having been half days this year. One of his classmates go on holiday twice a year, taking a week off school before the autumn and spring half terms as well to go abroad - time share in Greece and a fortnight elsewhere around the Med. I know there can be benefits in taking time off from school, but twice a year to the same places and to take advantage of cheaper flights I don't think this is on. My son has never been abroad (though thinking about Ireland or France). I remember we used to go on the special away days with British Rail from London - went to Weymouth, Scotland, Bangor, we did a lot of trains (my parents didn't drive).

This is the bish:

Don't you think he looks a little bit like John Peel's ecclaesiatical twin?!
I'd be interested to read his fuller statement but a brief search didn't get me further than his portrait. Anybody else found what he said rather than just what was reported about what he said?
As a relatively green Christian who, like dear old Rowan Williams, drives an eco-friendly car (Daihatsu Cuore) but who has made a number of flights to Spain in the past couple of years, I'd be interested in reading exactly what he was saying.
