Hello from Edinburgh!
Hello from Edinburgh!
Hi there, another newbie (and funily enough another Margo!) here. I've only just started growing plants in pots around my flat and have been surprised at how much I enjoy it - mainly chillies and various kitchen herbs; but this morning I planted a baby papaya. Here's hoping! Hello to you all anyway.

Hello there, actually my girlfriends sister grows much the same in her flat in the Calders. Her biggest problem is coping with the wind.

home growing in pots
I am in fact a bit curious about the "baby" papaya - the seed packet does mutter something about it growing pretty large despite the name! (hopefully it doesnt turn into a triffid.) We have a few trees in pots around the flat already so I'll have to keep this one in check I think!

Is that the wind caused by ingesting the chillies??Andy Hamilton wrote:Hello there, actually my girlfriends sister grows much the same in her flat in the Calders. Her biggest problem is coping with the wind.

I've just bought a papaya to include in my fruit salad tonight... my plan is to plant the seed as they are supposed to be good houseplants and we have only got two spiderlings (baby spider plants) - kindly donated by Ina!!
Welcome to the site Ness!! Good to see yet another Scot on here

thank you for the warm welcome....
(But I'm wondering if I should own up to actually being Irish, rather than a proper scot!)
Incidentally, along with the papaya, I also found some mysterious seeds that my fiancé brought back from Argentina. He couldn't remember what they are but they're definitely exotic - large and triangular in shape and glossy like a conker or a lychee stone. Anyway I soaked them overnight and planted them. Lord knows what I'm going to end up with.
Triffids were supposed to be from Russia, though, right? eep...
