I bought a house in the country near Huntly, Aberdeenshire and it came with 7 acres of land. Since I bought it I now have a variety of animals and birds like chickens, ducks, goats, horses, cats and a dog. It's great having chickens and ducks for the eggs as they obviously much better than store sold eggs. Now with the threat of Monsanto supplying Genetically Modified food (poison) in our local supermarkets it is time to be more self sufficient. Somebody's post here about how to build your own poly tunnel attracted me to this forum. This is my plan to build one, grow some fruits and vegetables and what I don't consume I will freeze.
I'm not much of a gardener so this is a great place to brush up on the How's and Why's and what's of self sufficiency. With the powers that be making things more expensive and taxing us to hell with their poor excuse of a lie called Global Warming it's time to come off the grid as in regard to food and do it myself.
Nice to meet you all. Hopefully I can learn from you and if I have any ideas u can learn from me.
Cheers!! Colin

Hi Colin!
I grew up near Huntly! Where about are you?
I am not much of a gardener either, and sadly I live in the big city at the moment, but I like to dream! Good luck in all your endeavours.

I view the world vicariously through comedy. Don't take me seriously.

Hi there and welcome

Let us be lovely
And let us be kind
Let us be silly and free
It won't make us famous
It won't make us rich
But damn it how happy we'll be!

Just off the Portsoy road. Can't give too many details though seeing this is the internet lol.
Been there nearly 3 years. Best move me and the wife have ever made. Used to be in a Concrete jungle called Westhill.

Welcome from the other end of Scotland, good to see the members north of the border increasing. Looks like you have got quite a challenge with 7 acres, we only have half an acre that's keeping us very busy!
