While rototilling the garden row to plant radishes, I discovered two Colorado Potato Beetles in the soil in the centre of the garden. When squashed the insect was discovered to be full of eggs or at least the rich orange colour of such. Apparently they survive the Winter as adults, just awaiting my potatoes to start growing. And the battle is on.

Re: Colorado Potato Beetle
We are attacked every year. I have a special squashing slab up the garden.

Re: Colorado Potato Beetle
we have the same problem in Macedonia.
when we were in Scotland last year we had beautiful big white thin skinned potatoes, with foliage which was practically untouched by pests, completely organic, and my husband couldn't believe how good they were. he was sure my mum must have sprayed them with pesticide. of course she hadn't, we're just lucky there not to have them. but caterpillars and slugs are a big problem.
