A good days work

Post: # 245592Post pelmetman »

I am feeling very pleased with myself as I have just pruned over 100 dog roses that we planted about 5 years ago on one of our boundaries.

They have grown really well, almost too well and were 12 foot high with a lot of the stems some 1 inch wide. Although they have acted as a good windbreak we had lost our view of the countryside so decided to cut them all down to about 4ft.

I have intertwined all the cut stems into the base of the plants to make a strong boundary in order to try and deter the badgers coming through which are a really nuisance here.

Or just wear the wounds with pride!! Sounds like a mammoth task...we have a few brambles which could do with attention (portugal) last time I had a go I ended up looking like I had been through a shredder!
The cockerel makes the noise, the hen produces the goods!! anon

Well done Sue

Our office has just completed two days' work clearing an old orchard of brambles and wild roses for BTCV. It was great fun but the whole office now looks like we've been self harming. Hmmm, on the other hand, maybe it's the stress levels getting to us.

I did suggest to my boss that we ought to do this every week. Shame I couldn't quite persuade her :(
